Dick Dale and the Del-tones

Dick Dale, King of the surf guitar, was born in 1937. He moved to California when he was 17 and started playing electric guitar. He experimented with heavy reverb and championed Fender amps. He played a right-handed guitar, left handed, playing it upside-down.

Dick Dale and I have a lot in common. His Dad was Lebanese and my Dad is Lebanese. His middle name is Anthony... My grandfathers first name was Anthony, My great uncle's name was Anthony, my Dad's middle name is Anthony, and MY middle name is Anthony. And actually... our last name "Serhal" is Anthony is Arabic.

Well, anyway, this heritage Dick Dale had, influenced his guitar style. He was the first to include Mediterranean scales to guitar playing, and that, along with his "WET" spring reverb, shaped surf music.

Oh, and his band DICK DALE AND THE DEL-TONES were AWESOME!!!
